The spirit of America and contributions of Ralph Waldo Emerson. The Other America is the distillation of a lifetime of interest in, research on and direct experience of this action-oriented part of the world. Focused particularly on the United States of America, this book takes as its starting point the insights of Rudolf Steiner relating to spiritual influences on this land, its people and the important challenges that they must face. It moves from the American Dream, through the importance of the will in the West, to the nature of evil at the turn or the millennium. One highlight of the book is a major section on the life and work of Ralph Waldo Emerson who was one of the first to point out the special characteristics of this part of the world. This is a book for any person who seeks deeper understanding of our troubled times and our future possibilities.
